Former Coke, PepsiCo Execs Founded Energy Drink KEY Raises $4 Million To Harness The Power Of Ketones

A brand new all-natural functional beverage KEY that promises long-lasting energy without causing a spike in blood sugar or caffeine jitters has officially gone live.

Cofounded by two former executives from Coca-ColaCoca-Cola 0.0% and PepsiCoPepsiCo 0.0%, Karishma Thawani and Tekla Back, KEY’s mission is to help consumers take sugar out of their diet while reinventing the $20 billion energy drinks category with more enjoyable, science-backed options.

Upon launching online through direct-to-consumer and a number of specialty, high-traffic retailers across Los Angeles and New York, including Erewhon Market, KEY has raised an oversubscribed $4 million seed round led by leading foodtech investment firm AgFunder, with additional backing from Alethia Ventures and SIJ Impact Fund, an ESG focused VC co-managed by AgFunder and SDG Impact Japan.
